History [ edit ]

The Dogo Argentino was developed in 1928 by an Argentinean doctor for use as a big game hound. Mastiffs, Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, and Old Fighting dogs of Corboda all went into its mix. It was bred to track boar and then attack and hold the animal for the hunter. It continues to be used for hunting, as well as a companion and in other jobs.
