The Golden Retriever is a beautiful, well-proportioned dog, powerful and active, not clumsy nor long in the leg, with a feathered, medium-length, cream to golden-colored coat. The Body is well balanced, with a broad chest. The Ribs are long and well sprung and the muscular loin is short, wide and deep, with very little tuck-up. The backline is strong and level from withers to slightly sloping croup. The broad head stands on a clean and muscular neck. The skull is slightly arched, and the stop is well defined although not abrupt. The muzzle, tapered but wide, is powerful tipping with a large, black or brownish black nose. The eyes are medium large, set well apart, brown in colour with dark rims and have a kind, intelligent expression. The ears are medium-sized, wel-porportioned and pendant with a slight fold. When pulled forward, tip of ear should just cover the eye. The tail, thick and muscular at the base, is long, well set on, and never curled over back nor between legs. The double coat has flat wavy, water-repellent outer coat which is neither coarse nor silky and a dense undercoat. Feathering on front of neck, back of thighs and underside of tail is heavier. The colours range from cream to a rich golden and feathering may be lighter than rest of coat.
